Here’s your weekly reminder of why Helen Mirren is the coolest lady on earth — or, if you’re Liz Lemon, further indication that she’s a wizard: The Oscar-winning actress will not be watching the Royal Wedding this weekend because she believes in something a tad old fashioned.
“I know this sounds ridiculous, but I think people getting married should be a private thing,” Mirren told The Daily Mail. “I hope they will also do an absolutely private wedding just for them.”
Asked about her plans for the weekend, Mirren predicted she’d likely be “in a little Italian bar somewhere and the football will be on.” Said the actress: “I’ll ask, ‘Can you switch it over to the Royal Wedding? and they will say, ‘What wedding?’”
If you’re in that Italian bar and happen to spot Mirren, buy her a beer on everyone. She deserves it for being awesome.
