Well, now: Lars Von Trier’s notorious Nazi comments last May have haunted him all the way home to Denmark, where he says local cops questioned him in connection to charges leveled at him by French officials, post-Cannes. In a statement released today, the Melancholia director issued a promise of his own following the media and legal shit storm caused by his ill-conceived joking, announcing that he’ll no longer speak publicly or to press. At all.
Von Trier’s statement (courtesy of Awards Daily):
“Today at 2 pm I was questioned by the Police of North Zealand in connection with charges made by the prosecution of Grasse in France from August 2011 regarding a possible violation of prohibition in French law against justification of war crimes. The investigation covers comments made during the press conference in Cannes in May 2011. Due to these serious accusations I have realized that I do not possess the skills to express myself unequivocally and I have therefore decided from this day forth to refrain from all public statements and interviews.”
Here’s what von Trier is up against: The Gayssot Act of 1990 made it illegal in France to question the existence of certain crimes against humanity, with a focus on the Holocaust. It also restricts making public statements that either justify or are sympathetic to said crimes, punishable with prison time or a fine.

Hardy was arrested on Sept. 11, 2009 after cops say they found all sorts of drugs in his home -- including opium and cocaine.
Hardy struck a deal with prosecutors ... in which he agreed to plead guilty to two counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of conspiracy to traffic in exchange for a 10 day jail sentence, 30 months of probation and a $100k fine.
34-year-old Hardy -- who took a brand new mug shot upon arrival to the jail -- was listed at 6'1" and 215 lbs.
Sources close to the wrestler tell us ... this weekend, Jeff was adamant that he wanted to get his jail stint over with ... so he decided to check in first thing Monday morning.

Conrad Murray spilled his guts to his barber over the weekend, complaining the prosecutor in his manslaughter trial is intentionally deceiving the jury.
Murray's barber, Maurice from M Barbering, tells TMZ ... Murray was griping that prosecutors have said the Doc delayed calling 911. Murray told the clipper ... he told bodyguard Alberto Alvarez to immediately call 911.
And on the subject of Alvarez ... Murray is pissed at the accusation he told the bodyguard to bring Michael Jackson's two oldest kids to Jackson's bedroom. Doc Murray says he actually told Alvarez to keep them away.
Murray was telling his barber he thinks the prosecutors are more interested in convicting him than being honest.
And if you're wondering, Murray's cut cost $25 ... and he left a 5 dollar tip.

Don Lapre's Mom -- Jail Officials Took His Medicine Away

The mother of TV pitchman Don Lapre, who committed suicide in jail Sunday, tells TMZ she blames jail officials for taking his anti-depressants away ... and also blames the FBI and U.S. Attorney General for her son's suicide.
Shirley Cleveland tells us ... her son was being treated for severe depression, just before he was jailed for 41 counts of conspiracy and fraud, in connection with his product -- The Greatest Vitamin in the World.
In fact, Shirley says Don had attempted suicide in the past. She says when she learned jail officials took his meds away she called his lawyer and begged for her to intervene. Shirley says the jail gave him another medicine, but it did not treat his depression.
And, Shirley insists, her son was innocent of all charges.
The U.S. Marshals tell us they do not comment on medical history.

Reggie Bush hit an L.A. hotspot last night ... partying like he just won the Super Bowl -- problem is, his winless Miami Dolphins JUST had their asses handed to them by the San Diego Chargers.
Bush was spotted at XIV in Hollywood around 10PM last night -- gripping a Corona while go-go dancers in body paint danced their faces off and people wearing glowsticks ... did whatever it is that people wearing glowsticks do.
Roughly six hours before the party, Bush wrapped up another lackluster performance on the field ... rushing for a mere 50 yards during a 26-16 loss in San Diego.
For the record, Bush is a grown-ass man and can do whatever the hell he wants in his downtime -- but it's a questionable move for a guy who's been HEAVILY criticized for playing like crap this season.
TMZ placed multiple calls to Reggie's agent for comment -- so far, no response.

T.I. to Diddy -- PLEASE Don't Drag Me Into Nightclub Brawl

Days after being released from federal custody, rapper T.I. grabbed a mic inside an Atlanta nightclub this weekend and BEGGED Diddy to chill out ... after the mogul threatened to get violent with a man in the crowd.
It all went down at the BET Hip Hop Awards Weekend after-party at Compound nightclub -- when Diddy, a spokesman for Ciroc Vodka, spotted someone drinking a rival liquor.
Diddy began shouting at the man, "B*tch ass n**gas ... put that sh*t down ... before I come smack that purple shirt off your ass."
It appears Diddy grabs ice and throws it at the man ... before screaming, "What the f**k are you gonna do, b*tch? F**king f*ggot ass light skin n**gas get the f*ck out of my face."
That's when T.I. -- who's still on probation stemming from a gun arrest -- grabbed another microphone and pleaded with Diddy, "I done paid enough time ... and nobody else in this motherf**ker [who is] talking about fighting done did no time."
He then told Diddy, "Let them n**gas drink what the f**k they want man."
He added, "I love you n**ga ... you know I will go to war with you, but come on man ... let's go."
